Song of song 7:4

"Your neck is like a tower of ivory, your eyes are like the pools of water at the gates of Esbon, and your nose is like the tower of Lebanon that looks toward Damascus."

'Thy neck is like a tower of ivory' Jesus Christ compares the neck of the church to a strength like ivory and a height like a tower. The neck is the part that connects the head to the body. In the scriptures, it is said that Jesus Christ is our head (Eph 4:15) and the church is the body (Eph 4:16). This neck connecting the church and Jesus Christ must be very strong. This means that our union and relationship with Christ must be very strong.

When we look at the neck in scripture, it is said to carry the yoke (Hosea 11:4, Jer 28:12, Isa 10:27). 'Yoke' refers to a wooden block placed around the necks of cows in a bullock cart. In Jer 30:8 yoke refers to slavery. The Lord promises to break the bonds of that yoke. Today the yoke of slavery has been removed from our necks and a lighter yoke has been given to us by Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:30). It is given to submit to Christ and to complete the work of Christ. In the eyes of Christ, the church is like the Tower of David, with the yoke on its neck.

'And thine eyes are like the pools at the threshold of Esbon, which are at the gates of Pathrabim;'" the eye signifies understanding. For the sight of the body must correspond with the sight of its spirit. Esbon was formerly the seat of Sikon, king of the Amorites (Numbers 21 : 26). Pathrabim was one of its gates. Here they are called 'pools,' and their The water is said to be clear, calm, still, motionless and in the distance among the trees and groves very beautiful. Eyes should be as clear as clear water in ponds. The scriptures tell us that the eye is the lamp of the body. 'The eye is the lamp of the body; If your eye is clear, your whole body will be light." (Matthew 6: 22). Thus, our eyes, which are the light of the body and the door to our soul, must be pure, that is, holy. Our vision must also be holy. Let the eyes of everyone in the congregation be like doves, full of peace and holiness. The Lord insists here, and Jesus Christ says to the disciples, "Blessed are your eyes" (Matthew 13:10), because people see the miracles and signs of God with their eyes.

“Thy nose is like a tower of Lebanon looking towards Damascus” The nose helps to breathe and at the same time to smell. Smell has both good smell and bad smell. But what kind of fragrance does the bride of Christ here exude? As it is said in 2 Corinthians 2:14,16, they are those who exhibit the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ and are the fragrance of life in those who are being saved.

The nose is very important to humans. In order for us to live, the Spirit of God must be in our nostrils (Job 27:2). And there are many things we can't see, touch or hear, but we can smell them. Likewise for the protection of the Lord's work, we need a nose like the tower of Lebanon. Jesus Christ looks at the church today and invites us to be those who only smell the fragrance of Christ in our lives as Christians and receive only that in our lives. Here the verse is compared to a tower with its nose pointing in the direction of Damascus; Usually a town or an ornament is the first to appear is the tower. At Apattanam, the tallest and most impressive is the Gopuram. In this verse, the first and most important aspect of a person's body is the face, especially the nose. The nose, which receives the Spirit of God and breathes in, should be seen as the first thing in our life, like the tower.

This verse speaks poetically of the strength, holiness, and fragrance of the church.

Are you zealous, holy, fragrant in Christ?
