"My bride! Honey flows from your lips, honey and milk are under your tongue, and the fragrance of your garments is the fragrance of Lebanon.”
'My bride!' Jesus Christ calls out to the congregation.
'Your lips flow with honey' This passage refers to us praising Jesus Christ through our lips, proclaiming His name, and proclaiming the gospel to the whole world. And the scriptures indicate that honey is the word of the Lord, a blessing, an offering and food. In this verse we compare honey to the word of the Lord. In Ezekiel 3:1-4, we can see that the word of the Lord is compared to honey. Likewise, in Ezekiel 3:1,4, the Lord says to speak to the people. Thus this verse refers to the declaration of the Lord's word through our lips as honey flows from your lips.
And in Isaiah 6:6,7, it is said that when one of the seraphim touched Isaiah's lips when he snorted, his iniquity was removed and his sin was forgiven. Likewise Christ has touched the unclean lips of many in the church today and saved us from sin, so we praise Him. It is as sweet as honey flowing to Christ the bridegroom.
'Honey and milk are under your tongue' In the scriptures, honey and milk are compared to the word of God. (Psalm 119:103, 1Peter 2:3). My word is under your tongue, O congregation. Only when the Word of the Lord, which is honey and milk, is within us can we proclaim it through our lips at the right time. His thoughts and commands should be secured under our tongue and spoken at the right time. (Proverbs 25:11).
The "fragrance of the garments" is the garment of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10), the garment of salvation (Isaiah 61:10), the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3) and these are the fragrance of Jesus Christ. The smell of the garment has been compared to that of Lebanon. It refers to a blessing and prosperity (Hosea 14:7).
Beloved ones! We are called to receive the word of the Lord and proclaim it. Spiritual clothing is given when we are filled with the word of the Lord. This verse tells us that it is a blessing to our lives.
Do you have the word of God in you?
