Jesus Christ speaking to the congregation
'As the lily is among the thorns, so is my beloved among the daughters. "
This verse indicates that the church, being the soul of Christ, is zealous for Christ in the midst of the sufferings of this world and is loved by Christ with victory.
Jesus Christ, who in the first verse compared himself to a lily, here compares the church to it. As the Father, He has given us the glory that He gave to Jesus Christ. I have given them the glory that you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. (John 17:22) says the scriptures. And we see in Hosea 14:5 that the Lord Jesus Christ compares us, the spiritual Israelites, to a lily.
"As the lily is among the thorns, so is my beloved among the daughters." Thorns represent evil men and sufferings brought upon us by Satan (2 Sam 23:6). He mentions that there are many names of his children here who live pleasing to the Lord despite the thorns, pains, tribulations and trials. It also shows that they are beautiful inside and out and are pleasing to God.
When looking at Paul's life, 'a thorn in my flesh has been given. It is the angel of Satan that pricks me so that I do not lift myself up.” (2 Cor 12:7) says. In this passage we can see Paul explaining the thorn in his life that was given to him. Likewise, Jesus Christ himself has testified about him (Acts 9:16) about his ministry in the midst of many tribulations and about his sufferings for the sake of Christ.
Beloved ones! We are called to rejoice in the Lord and do His will even in the midst of suffering (John 16:33). Some teachings today falsely teach that Christians do not have songs. Let's stay away from false teaching. All the saints who lived zealously for Christ suffered and glorified Christ. Therefore we also have tribulations, therefore the scriptures say that he who endures to the end will enter the kingdom of heaven. Beloved ones! May we abide in Christ every day.
Are you a lily among thorns?
