pride

1 Samuel 9:21 Then Saul replied, Am I not of the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest of the tribes of Israel? Is not my family insignificant among all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? He said that you will say such a word to me

In an unexpected turn in the life of King Saul, he was suddenly recognized as king. Look at the high rise of the man who came looking for the missing donkeys. At this sudden elevation Saul showed his humility.

But did Saul maintain this humility until the end? No. After he became king he lost that humility. He also sacrificed himself before Samuel came. God did this boldly without waiting for man. We read this in the 15th chapter of the book of 1 Samuel.

Many are more humble in the early days of salvation, in the early days of ministry. But as days go by they lose that humility. Realize that the pride of the heart is gradually crowding out that humility, and if you fail to correct it, pride will take over. Look at the end of Saul's humble beginnings. He lost his connection with the living God and connected with the spirits of the dead. Let's seek God's grace every day with fear without pride coming into our lives. He conducts in a refined way. Amen.
