The Lord is my Shepherd; I will humble myself (Psalm 23:1).
God is not a constant shepherd. He is always the shepherd and guide of His people. Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; The scriptures say that He gathers the lambs with His yoke, carries them in His bosom, and leads gently the herds (Isaiah 40:11). So he carries us on his lap in our times of weakness.
He provides shepherds in this world for us in our lives. I will gather the remnant of my sheep from all the nations where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; Then they will multiply. And I will set over them shepherds; The Lord says that they will no longer fear, nor be troubled, nor be lost (Jeremiah 23:3-4).
God will never let us down. He says fear not little flock, your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:32). We don't need to be afraid and anxious in our lives. Surely He is the One who is gracious in all ways in our lives, who feeds us in grassy places and leads us to still waters. Amen.
