THE GRACE OF THE LORD

For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave. (Psalm 86:13)

Lord, you have delivered my soul from the depths of the grave.  When this place is said to be the depths of the grave, it refers to the ungodly life which walks towards the hell.  And it represents the abyss of hell.  Sin and sinful life are like an abyss.  Rising above it is nothing but the mighty grace of God.

The psalmist reminds us that the grace of God that had been bestowed upon him was great.  When it is said to be grace of God, it is the kindness, his mercy, and love that God showers through Christ to one who is unworthy.  God saves us by His grace.  By that grace we have been redeemed from such an underworld.  David expresses this with great gratitude.  He says that this grace is not trivial, but great, magnificent, and sublime.

Do we think and appreciate the great grace that God has so lovingly shown us in our lives?  Amen.
