"Turn away your eyes from me, they have overcome me; your greatness is like a herd of goats on Mount Gilead."
Christ says that the church is seen as obedient to Jesus Christ, overcome by his love, holy, dedicated, strengthened in spirit, and glorified for the bridegroom.
"Turn away your eyes from me, and they have conquered me" is the word of love that Jesus Christ has placed on the church. This is the word he utters in that joy, as the eyes of mankind are always upon him. As it calls to me I answer; The word of the Lord says that you have overcome (I have answered you) (Psalm 25:15, Psalm 141:8). This passage reveals that the congregation of Christians hears in faith and the Lord answers that prayer. Let's look at two examples from the scriptures.
1) In Genesis 32: 26-28, we see that Jacob was faithful and firm in his request, "Unless you bless me, I will let you go." Verse 28 tells of the victory of Jacob's prayer.
2) The Canaanite woman prays for her daughter in Matthew 15:27,28. Verse 28 tells of the success of her petition because of her faith.
Likewise, Christians who are the church today, steadfast in their faith and asking in prayer according to His will, it is given to them. This is what Jesus Christ is talking about. But according to the scriptures, not all are answered, and only the prayer of those who bear fruit (John 15:16) and those who abide in His word (John 15:7) have such success.
"Your strength is like a flock of goats that thrive on Mount Gilead." Strength means hair. He compares the head of the congregation to a herd of goats. There are many passages in the scriptures about the headship of the church. When looking at the significance of hair in the Vedas,
(i) In Num 6 : 5,8 those who have the Nazarene fast should let their hair grow; They shall be set apart for the Lord and be holy. We see that the head of the head is given as a symbol of the Nazarene fast.
(ii) Nia. In verse 13:5, Samson's hair is mentioned in this verse. Samson was also a Nazarene; His hair indicates strength. This verse refers to dedication and spiritual strength.
(iii) The hair represents the glory of the church (1 Cor 11 : 15). The church should always be filled with the glory of Christ.
The superiority of the congregation is the obedience, piety and holiness of the congregation. Being holy, devoted, and exalted for the Bridegroom, Christ rejoices over it, and says, 'Take your eyes off me.' It is a term of endearment.
Are you persevering in faith and succeeding?
