'Thy neck is like the tower of David made into an armoury, bearing a thousand gifts, the shields of mighty men.'
In this verse, Jesus Christ says that the yoke of worldly burdens and sins of the world has been removed and the bride is a mighty woman who has accepted the yoke of God, which is Christ's yoke, on her neck.
The shield and armor of strong men warriors is important. These important warrior possessions will be protected on the armed roads. This verse compares it to the city of David, which is like the tower of David (2 Sam 5:7).
When we look at the neck in the Vedas, it is said that the neck carries the yoke. (Hosea 11:4, Jeremiah 28:12, Isaiah 10:27). A yoke refers to a wooden block that is placed around the necks of cows in a bullock cart. In Jer 30:8 yoke refers to slavery. The Lord promises to break the bonds of that yoke. Today the yoke of slavery has been removed from our necks and a lighter yoke has been given to us by Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:30). It is given to submit to Christ and to complete the will with Christ. In Christ's eyes the church is like the Tower of David with this yoke on its neck.
Also, the neck is the part that connects the head to the body. In the scriptures, it is said that Jesus Christ is our head (Eph 4:15) and the church is the body (Eph 4:16). This neck that connects the church and Jesus Christ must be very strong. This means that our union and relationship with Christ must be very strong. As Christians today, we are called to defend ourselves with the Word of God to resist Satan's temptations with the full armor that Jesus Christ has given us from the spiritual armory. Through this our union with Christ will increase.
Are you ready to take the yoke of Christ on your neck?
