Rejoicing in Scripture

"I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches."(Psalm 119: 14).

We must earn the wealth we need for our lives. Where as wealth should not be the only goal of our lives. Yet the only goal of some people's lives is to earn wealth. But many do not understand that the scripture given to us is the greatest worldly wealth. Quite often the expectation that wealth will give us happiness is not fulfilled in us. Instead many sufferings and tragedies occur. When we encounter the disappointment of expectation, it affects the mind. Although we can accomplish many things with money, only the Lord should help us to enjoy contentment.

The psalmist speaks of eternal riches that will not perish. At this point he speaks of the joy that brings complete satisfaction to his heart. The truth of the Lord will give us joy.  "The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold." (Psalm 119: 72).If we are not able to rejoice in the scriptures in life, it just means that we are not right in the spiritual life. Scripture is the Word of God, the voice of God. The truth of the Lord will give us joy. Amen.
