Of all peoples you are not known to be the holiest people

The Lord loved you and did not know you as the most abundant people among all peoples; You were a little of all people. (Deuteronomy 7:7)

In the Book of Deuteronomy we read three sermons delivered by Moses before the Israelites took possession of the land of Canaan. The Lord did not choose you because you were superior or a higher people than all the people in the world. Moses warns you not to think highly of yourself because you were few and insignificant, and the Lord knew you as such because of His grace, mercy, kindness, and love.

It is very important that we also know ourselves clearly. God did not choose us because we are a special people more important than other people in the world. We were straying as sinners. We have known his way and walked in it, but God himself has saved us because of his great mercy. We have nothing to boast about. But why should God choose me among so many crores of people? Why give me this light to guide me? You are my people, and I am your God, why should you adopt me as your right? Beloved ones! It is a great surprise that cannot be known even after counting and counting. A Christian is always amazed at this. He always sings praises to God. Amen.
