Verse: Hosea 4:5 They will not reform their ways to return to their God. The spirit of harlotry is in their hearts. They know God.

What is the knowledge of God?

Verse: John 17:3 This is eternal life to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

 To believe and accept the true God, our God and His Son, Jesus Christ, is the knowledge of knowing the Lord.

We can meditate on this in three ways

1. What is the cause of not knowing God?

Hosea 6:7 They transgressed the covenant like Adam, and there they trespassed against me.

2 Corinthians 10:5 By which we put to death all pretensions that rise up against the knowledge of God, and bring every thought into captivity to Christ. James 4:6 He gives abundant grace, therefore God opposes the proud. It is said that He gives grace to the humble.

2. How to know God

Realize the sin and confess it and get mercy and know the Lord. 1 John 1:7 If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we will be united to one another. The blood of his son Jesus Christ will cleanse us from all sins.

3. Benefits of knowing God

 We need the knowledge to know the truth of Jesus Christ, the truth of the scriptures, and the Spirit of truth.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:36 Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

When we know the humility of Jesus we are freed from our pride.

When we know Jesus' forgiveness, we are freed from our bitterness.

When we know the holiness of Jesus, we are freed from sin. We are saved when we know the Savior

When we know that He is the physician, we are freed from poverty. We are freed from humility when we know that He is exalted

By knowing the true scriptures we are sanctified.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by your power. Your word is truth. Acts 7:11 Those townspeople accepted the word eagerly and searched the scriptures daily to see if things were like this, so they were better than those in Thessalonica..

Psalm 199:13 When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you in every possible way. He will not speak on his own, but will tell you all the things he has heard and the things that are to come.

How are those who know God?

2 Corinthians 2:14 Praise be to God, who always gives us victory in Christ and brings with us everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.
